Review:

My wife and I were in Orlando with the extended family to celebrate my aunts 70th birthday. This trip happened to coincide with my brothers birthday, February 17th. My wife and I wanted to take my brother out for dinner and a pint on his birthday so we decided to check out Raglan Road™ Irish Pub and Restaurant after my folks recommended it having ate there the night before. My wife wasn’t feeling well so I invited one of my cousins Jared to join us.

When we arrived without a reservation and I figured we be waiting a while, yep the wait was 1 ½ hours. However, the patio was first come first serve. Since it was a lovely Florida evening we opted to sit on the patio and we were seated within 15 minutes.

We were delighted that there was live music on the patio stage being performed by Cork-based (Inniscarra, County Cork, Ireland) singer-songwriter Jennifer Lyons. She was wonderful.

We all ordered a pint and enjoyed the Irish soda bread with Guinness dipping sauce, which was awesome!

I ordered the Irish Egg for each of us for the appetizer. Neither my Brother Erik or Jared had ever eaten a Scottish egg or an Irish egg, Raglan Roads take on the Scottish egg Guinness & onion sausage wrapped around an egg rolled in breadcrumbs and seep fried. It was absolutely delicious but $12.00 was a little pricy for one Irish egg, $8.00 or $9.00 would have been a little more reasonable.

For my main dish I ordered Raglan Road’s fun take on a classic: Keen Eye for Shepherd’s Pie. The HUGE portion is full of rich ground beef and lamb mixed with minced onion, leek and carrot, crowned with a perfect crown of smooth mashed potato topped with a large square slice of Dubliner cheddar cheese, and surrounded by savory gravy. This was one of the better Sheppard’s pies I have eaten.

Overall, we had a great experience at Raglan Road Irish Pub and Restaurant, great food, great beer and great entertainment. I you find yourself in Orlando you should check this place out.

Cheers,

Chris
